Hemporium CBD: FAQ

CBD Oil - What is it?

CBD (cannabidiol) is a phytocannabinoid which comes from hemp plant. This can be combined with an oil such as coconut oil or hemp seed oil to create the product known as CBD oil. However, many different types of products can be created with cannabidiol, not just oil. This is where you can find the best quality range of CBD products in London.

Is CBD legal in the UK?

Yes, CBD is legal in the UK as long as the THC content is below 0.2%. All of our Hemporium CBD Oil London products are fully compliant with UK and EU legislation and fully lab tested. We ensure control to ensure our products are safe and legal.

How should I consume CBD oil?

CBD oil is most commonly taken sublingually (drops under the tongue). They can also be used in food and drinks, and sometimes can be taken through the skin (we also offer topical CBD which is best for using on skin).

What are CBD capsules used for?

Capsules are another way of taking CBD, they come in measured doses and are a convenient and easy way to take CBD. Capsules are swallowed and the CBD enters your bloodstream via the digestive system. Some people take them every morning or every night, or sometimes twice a day.

.

Can CBD get me “high” / are there any psychoactive effects?

No, CBD does not cause you to get high or have any psychoactive effects. THC is the chemical responsible for the “high”, and our full spectrum products containing THC have less than 0.2% (the legal amount) which will not cause any psychoactive effects.

.

How do I know how much CBD to consume and what is the best dosage?

It is usually best to start small and work your way up until you find a comfortable dosage. The maximum daily intake for adults is recommended to be 200mg, however in certain cases higher amounts can be taken under supervision of a doctor. 10mg twice a day can be a good starting point, which could be increased to 20mg after about a week

What is the Endocannabinoid System?

The Endocannabinoid system is made up of many cannabinoid receptors and neurotransmitters found in the central nervous system, the peripheral nervous system, the brain, and the immune system.

The endocannabinoid system plays a very important role in regulating the secretion of hormones involved in reproductive functioning and stress response. This system also has an effect on many other functions of the body, such as perception of pain, immune response, and brain functions such as memory, cognition, and even how your mood is regulated.

Cannabinoids are actually already produced naturally by our bodies. We have two types of cannabinoid receptors within us. Cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2).

CB1 receptors are found throughout the body, including in the brain. CB2 receptors are mostly found in the gastrointestinal system and the immune system.

CBD can indirectly act upon these receptors. It does not bind but rather stimulates the receptors, encouraging the body to utilise more of its own cannabinoids, such as anandamide (also known as “the bliss molecule”) which plays a part in the brain producing feelings of pleasure or motivation.

CBD products can be a great way to improve upon a healthy and well balanced lifestyle, by potentially better utilising your endocannabinoid system.

What is the difference between Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and CBD Isolate?

Full spectrum CBD contains all of the phytochemicals which are naturally found in the hemp plant. This includes very small amounts of terpenes, essential oils and THC (the legal amount of less than 0.3%).

Full spectrum CBD can have an effect known as the entourage effect. This just means all of the components of the plant are working together to help achieve the best possible positive effects of the product.

Broad spectrum CBD contains all compounds of the plant except the THC, which has been completely removed after extraction. This spectrum can also have the entourage effect, just without the THC.

CBD isolate is pure cannabidiol. All other compounds from the plant have been removed leaving only the CBD. The benefit of this type of product is that it can mean higher concentrations of CBD per serving, since everything else has been removed.

What is CO2 Extraction?

CBD products are made via a method called CO2 extraction. This is how the CBD, and other compounds, are extracted from the hemp plant. The CO2 extraction method is the safest and most effective way of doing this.

Pressurised carbon dioxide is used to isolate the cannabidiol and other desired phytochemicals from the hemp plant. It does this by acting like a solvent at specific temperatures and pressures. The process involves heating and pressurising CO2 and passing it through some hemp.

The carbon dioxide will pull out the essential terpene oils and trichomes. This solution is then put through a separator which separates the desired compounds from the ones you don’t want. These compounds can then be used to create the CBD products you desire, ready for consumption.
